Advice|Q&A

When planning a wedding, creative collaboration between the couple and the floral designer is extremely important. At Heather’s Floral Art, the wedding couple actively participates in the process so your personality shows through.

“I believe as a designer, the role I play in designing a wedding is not just about the décor. It is also about creating trust, making the couple feel comfortable, easing the organization of the wedding, and most of all, about creating feelings. I will ask you a lot of questions, and help you decide what will work and what won’t.”

Heather’s first thoughts when a bride begins to plan for her wedding: “I always begin with her wedding bouquet. From there we design where the evening will take us. We talk about colors and textures of flowers. I often make suggestions based on the tone, texture and style of the gown.”

“The height of the bride is an important consideration, as well, in terms of how dramatic she wants to look with her bouquet. With regard to the facility, Heather examines the colors in the room, its décor, its elegance, formality and size. Visiting the location helps make some basic decisions about color scheme, types of flowers, bud size, and the size and height of the centerpieces, as well as flowers for the ceremony.”
